The Oyster Buyboat Iva W is a 60-foot wooden freighter built by hand and launched in Deltaville, Virginia on the Chesapeake Bay in 1929.  For the first 69 years of her existence, she worked harvesting oysters and crabs and hauling cargo throughout the Chesapeake Bay.

After almost 70 years hard work, Iva W retired with dignity in 1998 into a life of luxury. After extensive renovations, Iva W is now configured for comfort, relaxation and enjoyment.

Once again, she can be found sailing the waters of the Chesapeake Bay, visiting her traditional ports of call, exploring new locations, and sharing her rich history and that of the Bay, with all who express an interest.

We invite you to explore this site to enjoy the history of the Iva W or join us on board.
